[looks like she's going to say something for a second, but just smiles instead.]

[nods awkwardly, lifts his hand in a wave and then gets self-conscious about that for some reason and drops it really quickly, which. is weirder.]

[her expression is amused, or adoring, maybe, as she gets out of the car.]

[a few days later, she's sitting on a bench in the courtyard - you know, where someone else usually sits. she's been spacing out for the past couple of days, apparently distracted by something. if certain people didn't pick up on that, though, it's at least somewhat odd that she's not tapping away on her phone at the moment.]

... I enjoy being friends with you. For a while, I've been afraid of what would happen if things between us ever changed.

There's something I've been wanting to say, and while I've been afraid to do it, I also... sort of feel like I've been lying to you by staying quiet. Maybe you won't care, or maybe you won't want to talk to me again, but I'm going to take that chance.
